If you are in the market for a potent Bavarian supercar, allow us to summarize the 2020 lineup from BMW M-Series for sale. If you haven’t heard, the M2 Competition is moving over to make room for the M2 CS. This legendary suffix means less weight and more power. Expect to see more carbon fiber and a 444 horsepower twin-turbo straight-six. This engine offers 406 lb-ft of torque and it is shared with the M4 Competition. It is the only flavor M4 to be offered this year, as the shining star will be an all-new M3 Sedan.
A new M4 will follow close behind, and they will both use a 3.0L 503 horsepower twin-turbo inline 3.0L six-cylinder. First seen this year in the competition versions X3 M and X4 M, it will offer 442 lb-ft of torque to the rear or All Wheel Drive. While the new M3 and M4 will offer manual transmissions, M has done away with dual-clutch gearboxes in favor of the superior 8-speed automatic from ZF.
The M5 Competition has evolved into a separate model, and it uses almost 26 lbs of boost to make 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. This required adding cross-bolts to the bottom end, another oil pump and electronic wastegates. The same powerful 4.4L V8 is also shared with the M8 Competition Coupe & Convertible. Finally, the latest generation xDrive AWD system is capable of operating in a traditional Rear Wheel Drive mode.
