The Porsche 911T for sale is a highly collectible early edition of the Porsche 911 series. The classic 911T was launched in 1967, right on the heels of the 911S, and it subsequently replaced the Porsche 912. It is a notably lightweight 911 model designed for a pleasurable driving experience. As a favorite among Porsche purists who embrace all the handling and design quirks of a rear-engine vehicle, this highly collectible and enjoyable car is a rare find.

The 911T, which stands for Touring edition, was offered in two versions: soft-top, removable targa, and hardtop coupe. The 911T Targa includes a removable roof panel and a rear window panel for an open-top driving experience. The 911T Targa top is supported by a stainless-steel clad roll bar for safety. The 911T is referred to as a 2+2-seater vehicle, with two full-size seats in the front and significantly less space for the two bucket seats (that you’ll probably use as trunk space) in the back.

Both versions of the 911T for sale are distinguished by a 2.0 Liter air-cooled, rear-mounted, flat-six, “boxer”-style magnesium block engine which was tied to a four or five-speed manual “Type 901” transmission and completely independent suspension. The 1972 911T harnessed 157 gross horsepower, which gives this car enough power to warrant its Porsche heritage and provides a satisfying roar of engine noise. Interestingly, the 1972 911T was the only model year to sport an external oil flap.

Several thousand 911T Coupe and Targa were sold and shipped to the US each year. Few still exist in fully original condition, though. Many have been rebuilt or enhanced. The 911T for sale commonly have upgraded engines (possibly semi-automatic) or parts, especially brake calipers and metering components borrowed from the similar 911S line. If you find one equipped with the optional sway bars in the suspension, take it—it makes all of the difference in enjoying your drive.

The 1973 911T for sale is a standout among the classic Porsches. The interior is comfortable and convenient for its time.

The 911T represents the true Porsche experience and is genuinely fun to drive. The Coupe and Targa both offer balanced steering and weight distribution that compensates for the weight of the rear-engine. As the lightest 911 produced in 1972, the 911T offers the most consistent, predictable drive in an iconic, purely Porsche façade.
