Restored Firebird Trans Am 455 V8 4-speed Air Conditioning ///  Originally sold new at Central Pontiac Inc. in Seattle, Washington, this 1976 Trans Am spent most of its life in California and is the recipient of a recent restoration. It is one of just 7,528 cars built with a 4-speed manual transmission.  This Trans Am also features an L75 455 4-barrel V-8, as well as a Borg-Warner T-10 close-ratio 4-speed, power steering, power front disc brakes, power windows, Formula steering wheel, tachometer, remote driver-side mirror, upgraded Audiovox AM-FM stereo cassette, 3.23:1 Safe-T-Track differential, gold-tone Honeycomb wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires, dual exhaust outlets, and gold striping accenting the fresh Starlight Black paint. Standard Trans Am content includes the shaker hood, front and rear spoilers, front fender tractors, rear wheel foils, rear spoiler, as well as the optional hood bird decal and gold-tone engine-turned dash.  The 1976 model year featured a new urethane bumper design that replaced the black rubber design used the previous two years in the front and rear. It also proved to be the final year for round headlamps and the 455 V-8, as well as Honeycomb wheels. With a 7.6:1 compression ratio and a Rochester QuadraJet 4-barrel carburetor, the 455 was rated in its final year at 200 HP at 3,500 RPM, with 330 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,000.  Documentation for this 1976 Trans Am includes the California title and license plates, PHS documentation, build sheet and some receipts from the rebuild.

The 403 cubic inch V8 is built for performance with a Universal Performance Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor flowing 750 CFM. This powerplant connects to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that handles the torque with authority. The exhaust system features Pypes stainless 2.5" header-back pipes with long tube headers creating a signature muscle car growl. A limited-slip 10-bolt rear end with 2.73 gears delivers maximum traction when you need it most. There may not be an American muscle car ever built that offers up more visual drama than the fourth-generation WS6. This 1996 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 represents the resurrection of the high-performance package and its resurgence as a power adder as well as a suspension upgrade compared to its predecessors. The bulging nostril Ram Air hood and high deck spoiler announce to the world that this is more than your average Firebird. Shroud in its original black paint, only the red door and hood logos, along with its matching red brake calipers, stand out to break up the sinister shadow look of this beast. With just 90,568 actual miles on the odometer, this t-topped nightmare has plenty of life left to haunt anyone silly enough not to move over on the highway.  Inside, we find a stock-looking tan leather interior that features the factory head unit and HVAC controls. The orange/red glow of the analog tach and speedometer is all you need to focus on from behind the wheel, aside from the road ahead of you. Power windows, locks, and mirrors add a dash of modern convenience. At the same time, air conditioning and cruise control complement the glass T-tops to allow this boulevard bruiser to also be a comfortable highway cruiser.  Under that Ram Air hood, we find the stellar 5.7-liter LT1 variant of the Chevy small block. In stock form, that WS6 trimmed V-8 motor put down a stout 305 hp and 335 lb-ft of torque, a surplus of 20 hp and ten pound-feet over the base engine. Power is routed through a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission before being sent out through a sweet-sounding aftermarket chambered exhaust that gives this modern-day muscle car a throwback voice that rivals anything from the 1960s or '70s.
