*1969 Pontiac Firebird 350 Convertible*Â Pontiac was long considered the âsportierâ brand in the General Motors lineup. This was especially true in the 1960s when automotive legend John Z. DeLorean was at the helm of the company, and they were turning out many of GMâs most exciting cars. So when Chevrolet debuted the Camaro in 1966 as a 1967 model, Pontiac was just behind with its variant - the Firebird - which came out a few months later. This 1969 Firebird 350 Convertible is a stunning RestoMod variant of that legendary nameplate, and has been carefully constructed over the years for both optimal performance, and outstanding looks.Â The first thing you notice when you walk up to this Firebird is the outstanding paint around the car. Completed by Blue Sky Auto Body LLC in Tacoma, WA, this car was refinished in Pointac Windward Blue Poly, and then 9 coats of clear were sprayed on top to give it a glass-like appearance. To give the car a bit more of a unique look, a set of 5-spoke billet wheels were added, along with a rear decklid spoiler The convertible top was also replaced with a high quality white vinyl replacement which provides a wonderful contrast when itâs raised.Â Although the interior looks almost completely original - it is hiding some very desirable upgrades beneath the surface. All of the seats have been recovered in black vinyl by Auto Specialty Inc. in Tacoma, WA, and Katzen seat heaters have been installed in both front buckets. The radio was converted from the original analog unit to digital by 8 Track Repair in Prescott Valley, AZ, with an Aurora Design AM/FM/Bluetooth/ACC Adapter, which is paired to a 140W dual voice coil dash mounted speaker.Â Sitting under the hood is a 350ci V8 that is rated at 425 horsepower and built by Gibson Motorworks of Puyallup, WA. This engine features high-quality performance parts such as a Quick Fuel Slayer 750CFM 4bbl carburetor, Spectre Performance aluminum intake, Proform electronic ignition, aluminum radiator and 2.5-inch aluminum exhaust. These all make for a reliable, yet very exciting to drive classic that has the exact sound that you want from a pony car. Backing up this engine is a 700r4 automatic gearbox with an overdrive, which is paired to a 9-inch Ford rear end with posi-traction and 3.55 gears. The suspension was also set up by Gibson Motorworks and included Heidts coil-overs with tubular A-arms as well as Wilwood disc brakes with 14-inch rotors up front and 12-inch units in the rear. A power assisted rack and pinion steering system built by Steeroids was also installed to make this car ultra usable.Â There is nothing like a V8 convertible in the summertime, and this Firebird is an exceptional example of the breed. Providing performance, looks and fun, this car will always draw attention at your local cruise night, and needs absolutely nothing for you to just get in and start driving. *1990 Pontiac Trans Am GTA*Â The third generation of the beloved Pontiac Firebird was introduced in 1981 as a 1982 model year car. With a new, aerodynamic shape and an appealing array of powertrain options, the Firebird and its high-performance Trans Am sub-model became quite popular. This popularity was also bolstered thanks to the Firebirdâs starring role in one of the 1980s most legendary TV shows Knight Rider as KITT. Over the course of the 3rd generation Firebirdâs lifecycle, it received some updates and as it neared the end of the production run in 1992, was a tremendously improved car.Â This 1990 Trans-Am GTA is an outstandingly kept example of the highest performing Trans Am available at the time. Finished in White over Beachwood leather, the car shows just 59,973 miles at the time of cataloging and is reportedly one of just 40 cars produced in white this year. One of the first things you notice on this striking coupe is the wheels - thanks to the optional Performance Package, a set of Superlight 16-Inch gold mesh wheels have been fitted. These are not only era appropriate but give the car a far more sporting look than the more standard alloys available at the time. Thanks to some small, yet significant updates done throughout the carâs run, by the time this car was produced in 1990, the Trans Am was the most aerodynamic car to ever leave General Motors to that point, and you can tell just by its stunning shape.Â Moving inside the Trans Am and you are met with a very sporty cabin, with a pair of beautiful tan sport seats up front, and a smaller bench for 2 more situated behind. The tan leather and carpet found in this example has been kept to a remarkably high standard over the years, and shows hardly any bolster wear and the sheen that plastic typically gets after heavy use, is absent in this example. For the first year in the modelâs history, a driverâs side airbag was standard equipment, and the 4-spoke steering wheel frames the Trans Amâs signature âgraph paperâ style gauges. The stereo has been upgraded on this car with a Bluetooth capable Kenwood head unit, and new door speakers were also installed.Â Powering this Trans Am is the most powerful engine available in 1990- a 5.7-liter L98 V8 with fuel injection that is rated at 235 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant sent power to the posi-traction rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic gearbox. An aluminum driveshaft was fitted to lower the rotating mass and help the engine spin up more smoothly and an oil cooler was installed from the factory to ensure great performance even when you were driving the car hard.Â This generation of Trans Am epitomizes that golden era in the late 1980s and early 1990s when American manufacturers were finally clawing back all of the performance they lost in the 1970s and 80s. Going up against cars like the Fox Body Mustang and IROC-Z Camaros, the Trans Am GTA could hold its own with the best of them, and had some unique features that put those other cars to shame.
