Plymouth Superbird was made in 1970 to dominate NASCAR racing. Within a single year, this car won 19 races and with a speed of more than 200 miles per hour in most of them. Finally, because of its breathtaking speed and performance, NASCAR banned the car. Since then, this masterpiece has become a collector's item, and car enthusiasts can still find Plymouth Superbird for sale and, of course, in perfect condition.

As mentioned, Plymouth Superbird was created to be a race car. That’s why it featured a top-of-a-line engine block with hardened valve seats and 20 over pistons to manage the unleaded fuel. For cooling purposes, the Plymouth Superbird comes with five core radiators. Both assemblies and accessories were upgraded in order to optimize driving experience, performance, and reliability. Moreover, the 1970 Superbird for sale is also equipped with electronic ignition, power brakes, and power steering. It came with the following engines: • 440 Super Commando 6-Barrel V8 • 440 Super Commando V8 • 426 Hemi V8

There were also multiple transmission options that Superbird came with, which are: • 3 Speed Automatic • 4 Speed Manual • Torqueflite 727

The 440 Super Commando came with a single 4-barrel carburetor and offered 375 hp. On the other hand, the 440 Super Commando 6-barrel was more powerful, and it offered a peak hp of 390. Lastly, the 426 Hemi V8 offered 472 pound-feet of torque and 433 hp. What makes the Hemi Superbird more valuable is that only 136 units were manufactured, and it can still achieve 60 miles per hour speed mark in only 4.8 seconds.

The undercarriage of the Plymouth Superbird was made rust-free and dry with no reported active fluid leaks. The wheel wells and floorboards are equipped with a stone chip guard and factory sound installation. Its A833 overdrive transmission takes the driving experience of Superbird to another level. The best model to truly enjoy the driving experience of the supercar is undoubtedly the 4-speed transmission Hemi Superbird. Being an iconic car and collector's item, the Plymouth Superbird price is high.

Undoubtedly, a couple of the most prominent features of Plymouth Superbird are the nose cone and huge wing. That’s what basically makes this car the Superbird. It was rumored that the height of the rear wing was selected on the basis of a secret formula that enhanced the car’s performance. The paint color options were Blue Fire Metallic, Corporation Blue, LimeLight, Lemon Twist, Vitamin-C Orange, Tor-Red, and Alpine White. Regardless of the color, all the 1970 Plymouth Superbird cars came with a black vinyl roof.

Plymouth Superbird cars which were custom-built especially for NASCAR racing, came with unique equipment such as roll cages. There were options to upgrade the front seats from the bench ones to appear more stylish and sportier. The company also offered white or black vinyl color options for that.
