The dominant supercar at the beginning of the 21st century was the Mercedes SLR for sale. Daimler owned 40% of McLaren group and decided to leverage their expertise in composites to build a featherweight GT car. The car ushered in many technologies that we now take for granted. Carbon-ceramic brakes and a carbon fiber-reinforced composite body were used to keep weight at a minimum. A hand-built supercharged V8 making 617 hp and 580 lb-ft of torque was developed solely for the SLR. If you are looking special editions were created near the end of production.  In 2006 AMG revised the engine to make 640 hp and 600 lb-ft. To celebrate, they christened this model the 722 Edition. SLR 722 pays homage to the victory of Sir Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson at the 1955 Mille Miglia. This engine also found its way into a Roadster. Only 150 examples of the SLR 722 S were built and they are among the most sought after collector cars in recent history. Another 75 roadsters were built as the SLR Stirling Moss. They are a true speedster with no windshield or roof. The final 25 cars are known as the McLaren Edition. These cars were built without input from MB. Their own styling can be seen in the aerodynamics and interior styling. The mufflers were also removed to create an angry exhaust note. There is no doubt this car will be one of the most sought after collectibles of the modern era.   Mercedes-Benz Models For Sale G65 Final Edition 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT-R Price, Specs, & Review 2018 Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG Specs, Photos, Price & Review 2018 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Specs, Price, Photos, & Review 2018 Mercedes SL65 Specs, Price, Photos & Review 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63 S Cabriolet, Specs and Pic View Mercedes-Benz Models For Sale
