The new McLaren 675LT Spider for sale features a retractable roof that “adds further exhilaration” to an already exciting model. This “three-piece retractable folding hardtop” can be operated at speeds of up to 19 mph, for those wondering.

When it comes to convertible versions of pre-existing models, there are a couple points that need to be addressed. The first is the car’s weight, considering the addition of a retractable roof can add a few pounds. But, the car clocks in at a total of 2,800 lbs, which is a bit heavier than the coupe. However, the supercar is about 220 lbs lighter when compared to the 650S open top. Second, combine that weight with the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 that produces 666 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, and you have a power-to-weight ratio of 4.2 lbs per hp. The convertible will rocket from 0-60 mph in a blistering 2.9 seconds and can achieve 124 mph in 8.1 seconds – just .2 seconds shy of the coupe. Looking for a top speed? The UK engineers point out in the car’s technical statistics that it tops out at 203 mph.

Staying true to their history of exclusivity, the convertible will be limited in number as are all other models. Only 500 examples will be created and virtually right after the car’s official announcement, the model sold out completely.
