Dupont Registry is proud to offer, on behalf of the seller, this spectacular 1967 Miura P400 with
VIN 3057, manufactured in July of 1967. The original exterior color as shown is Rosso Miura,
known by enthusiasts as “ Lobster ”. It is an orange hue with a hint of red. The interior is Nero
(black) , with a brown leather center console and dash, as the car came from the factory.
Chassis #3057 , Engine # 1190 and Production Number 37, Manufactured 8 July 1967, has
been certified on 3 August 2016 by Automobili Lamborghini Spa by Federico Foschini and
Paolo Gabrielli. The certificate of vehicle original configuration is included in the
documentation.
 
 
The current seller/caretaker is the third owner of the vehicle. The first owner was Ben Johnson
traveling in Europe , supplied new by Rome agent SEA. Dean Aberman, the second owner,
owned the car from December 1978 through July 2015. The current seller, Michael Weinreb,
has owned the car since August 2015. The car was purchased by Michael at the Bonham
Auction at the Quail Lodge in August 2015 , with the guidance and presence of Valentino
Balboni, Lamborghini’s original test driver. Balboni inspected the car prior to the auction with
Michael, and remembered the vehicle from when it was originally manufactured, he knew the
vehicle’s history, and confirmed its originality. When Michael asked Valentino if he should buy a
P400 or an SV, Valentino replied, “ Michael, you like to go fast, and the P400 is faster than an
SV because it’s significantly lighter, the engines make basically the same power, however the
power to weight ratio is much better in the P400. “ The decision was made based on
Valentino’s inspection and advice.
 
 
This Miura was a very original Miura when purchased by Michael, with 33,600 original miles.
The current actual original miles is 33,857. The vehicle had an original interior, all original body
panels, glass, components, motor, transmission, Armstrong shocks, and mostly original paint.
The body was in excellent condition, with minor imperfections consistent with normal wear
from 1967 through 2016. The car was a no-hit car, with an aluminum skin that was rust-free ,
bondo free , with no evidence of prior body work.
 
 
Michael Weinreb embarked on a restoration to restore this Miura to the condition it was in
when it left the factory. As it turned out, it came out better. Michael assembled a team of the
best Miura specialist in the country with an open checkbook to achieve the best restoration
ever performed on a Miura. The team consisted of renowned Miura specialists Jeff Stephan of
Granada Hills, Debbie Sidera, formerly of Gary Bobilef, Andrew Palmer Coachworks for metal
fabrication, Scott Bonowski, of Hot Rods and Hobbies, for paint work, Ed Pink Racing and Jeff
Myers. Even though the Miura had a near perfect original body, Andrew Palmer, an elite metal
fabricator, structurally enhanced the chassis well beyond SV strength and improved the panel
fit enhancing the entire body and chassis, creating an arrow straight body from floor pan to
roofline , utilizing a rotisserie. Jeff Stephan rebuilt all chassis components, the engine in
conjunction with Ed Pink Racing, and rebuilt the transmission. Two binders of the complete
restoration are available upon request. Jeff Stephan restored the original numbered Armstrong
shocks. During the rebuild of the transmission, Jeff Stephan sourced all new parts from
Polistorico of Lamborghini. The engine rebuild consisted of upgraded internals, balancing and
blueprinting, and Dino testing by Ed Pink Racing. Jeff Stephan rebuilt and refinished the
carburetors to new condition. He is the only technician who can restore the finish of the
carburetors to the way it originally left the factory ( see photos documenting the engine rebuild
from start to finish).
 
 
The interior was fully restored by BB Stile of Italy to the highest standard and the new carpeting
was sourced by Valentino Balboni from the original factory workers who installed the carpet
when the vehicle left the factory. There is a complete file from BB Stile documenting the
complete interior restoration available upon request.
 
 
The original wood steering wheel, wood shift knob, and all original Lamborghini emblems are in
mint condition.
 
 
Michael’s vast 25 year racing experience in SCCA and IMSA sanctioned road racing events, as
well as race car set up experience, contributed significantly in directing all of the technicians
involved in enhancing the performance, handling and quality of the vehicle.
 
 
After completion of the restoration, the Miura was taken to Monterey in August 2016 for the
50th Anniversary of the Miura, and was initially shown and judged at the Quail Lodge ( the
largest gathering of Miuras assembled) and next was shown and judged at the Concorso
Italiano. The judges from the Lamborghini Club of America awarded the Miura 3 awards: Best
in Show , Best Miura in the P400 Class, and Best Restored Miura at the Quail Lodge. At the
Concorso Italiano Event , the Miura also won 3 awards : Best Miura, Best Lamborghini, and
Best in Show. Based on these awards, Automobili Lamborghini awarded it the BULL AWARD
( Best of Show), the highest award achievable for a Miura. The Fall 2016 Publication of La Vita
Lamborghini features a 3 page article of “ My Experience and Journey with my award winning
Miura” . During the interview, Michael was awarded a plaque from Lamborghini President and
CEO Stefano Domenicali.
 
 
In August 2023, the Miura was again shown and judged at the Concorso Italiano, and won 2
awards : Best Miura and Best in Show, taking the highest honors from every car and brand
entered at the event.
 
 
It is undisputed that this Miura is the winningest Miura in existence due to its condition,
originality and quality of restoration.
 
 
It is ready for the next caretaker to win Pebble Beach, Monterey or Villa D’Este at Lake Como,
Italy.
 
 
This vehicle shines in so many ways. The motor has unbelievable throttle response and
exhaust note akin to a Carrera GT, based on the quality of the engine rebuild. The piston
tolerances are two ten thousandths, not four to five. Lightweight forged, short sleeve graphite
coated alloy pistons replaced the bulky cast long sleeve pistons. Upgrades to this Miura
enabled it to perform with much more gusto than before. In addition, the chassis is more
taught with more structural integrity than when it left the factory.
 
 
This Miura is perfect for the caretaker who wants the best of the best.
