The crew at Sant’Agata Bolognese is hard at work on the next Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder for sale, so don’t expect too many changes on the 2013 Gallardo. That’s no bad thing, of course: the current Gallardo convertible is still a
fantastic sports car. Whether you choose the standard LP560-4 spyder, or the more sporting LP570- 4 Superleggera coupe or Performante Spyder, you’ll be getting a 550-plus horsepower, all-wheel drive, mid-engined thoroughbred Italian bull capable of sprinting to 60 mph in well under 4 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph. The Spyder in particular, boasts some incredible figures. Thanks to a liberal application of carbon fiber, weight is down by 150 pounds compared to the standard car, bringing the dry weight down to just 2,950 pounds. More ponies have been liberated from the 5.2-liter V-10, and a 6-speed E-gear automated manual transmission is standard, meaning the Superleggera boasts a power to weight ratio of just 5.9 pounds per horsepower fully loaded. This number puts it in serious supercar territory. Combined with a wedge, extroverted design and an Alcantara-trimmed interior, the Superleggera or its spyder clone, the Performante, are the most desirable bulls in the current Gallardo family.
