Under the leadership of Ferrari’s then-president, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the company shifted its design philosophy, announcing that the next flagship model would return to a front-engine configuration. Launched in 1996, the Ferrari 550 Maranello was crafted by Pininfarina, seamlessly blending modern and classic styling elements while paying tribute to the legendary 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Equipped with a gated six-speed manual transmission, the 550 was powered by a 5.5-liter V12, designated as the tipo F133. Producing 478 horsepower at 7,000 rpm, the car boasted impressive performance figures, sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 199 mph.
This 1998 Ferrari 550 Maranello, a US-specification model, presents beautifully in Grigio Titanio (Titanium Gray) with a Bordeaux (Red 4481) leather interior and matching red carpeting. Having passed through four owners since new, its history is well-documented via Carfax. Delivered by Ferrari of Beverly Hills in February 1998, it was originally sold to a prominent client—a renowned fashion designer.
The second owner, a resident of La Jolla, California, acquired the car in October 2003 with only 936 miles on the odometer. By October 2008, the vehicle, showing 5,111 miles, changed hands again, this time purchased by an architect in Princeton, New Jersey, who owned it until 2015. It was then sold to a well-known collector and dealer from West Chester, Pennsylvania, with just 6,091 miles.
In October 2019, the Maranello returned to Beverly Hills, now with only 7,588 miles. To protect the original paint, a Paint Protection Film was applied to the front end, and a major service, including a timing belt replacement, was completed in March. Additionally, the fuel pumps were replaced in September of this year.
