The Yenko Camaro for sale is supercharged by Specialty Vehicle Engineering in New Jersey. This heavily upgraded feature-laden 1,000 horsepower Camaro is now available as a coupe or convertible by special order from a few Chevy dealerships. The convertible version of this impressive muscle car starts as a regular Camaro SS Convertible. It includes a fully customized 10-speed automatic transmission and an optimized version of the Camaro's LT1 V-8 engine that boasts 6.8 liters of displacement, a fiery supercharger, and high-flow exhaust.
The Original 1969 Yenko Camaro for sale, a 2-door coupe style pony car, was designed by Don Yenko, who owned a Chevy dealership, Yenko Chevrolet, and loved to race. When the Camaro debuted, General Motors circulated a corporate rule that prohibited the Camaro’s design from carrying an engine that was larger than a 6.6L V-8. Don Yenko and others knew that that limit would significantly hamper the Camaro’s ability to compete against other great muscle cars that weren’t capped.
In 1967, Yenko replaced the engine in about 106 L78 equipped SS Camaros with the Corvette’s L72 7.0L V-8 engine. His Camaro housed an M21 four-speed transmission and was rated at 450hp. For a sharper, unmistakable aesthetic, he also added a twin-snorkel fiberglass hood. In 1968, Yenko emblems were added to the front grille, fenders and tail panel next to 427 tokens for the newer, even larger engine. Less than half of the original 68 1968 Yenko Camaros exist today.
The 2019 Yenko Camaro for sale is based on the Camaro 1SS or 2SS Trim with the factory 1LE package, so it features magnetic ride control, a functional rear spoiler, an electronic slip differential, a heavy-duty engine cooling system, and a performance-ready suspension. It also includes a front splitter and a blade-style rear spoiler. As the exclusive manufacturer of the current generation of Yenko cars, SVE has updated the New Yenko Camaro with Stage I and Stage II versions that produce 835 hp and 1,000 hp. For reference, a stock Camaro delivers 500hp—half of what the Stage II is capable of. Only 25 lucky drivers will be able to get their hands on a Stage II Yenko.
The 2020 Yenko Camaro features striking graphics and custom touches like its predecessor. Magnetic dampers, sport-tuned brushings and springs, chunky stabilizer bars, a limited-slip differential, and powerful Brembo brakes are added to the mix to handle all of that power. Each one comes with striking Yenko strips and distinctive badging around the exterior. All Yenko vehicles are numbered and come with a manufacturer's certificate. Optional hood and stripe graphics, embroidered headrests, and a painted supercharger can be added to any of the packages.
The Yenko Camaro price involves two components: the cost of the original car and the upgrades. A Stage II Camaro costs almost $70000 more than just the car, handily bringing the price for a New Yenko Camaro just above six figures. The 2020 Yenko Camaro with a spiffy new convertible roof will set you back a little more.
