The 8-series was built from 1991-1997. Although not a huge seller, it had a following that only seemed to grow after the car ended production. The BMW 8-series for sale was a luxury coupe based off the 7-series sedan. It mainly competed against the CL-class cars. A small, yet significant feature was the pop-up headlamps, which were the first ever for a BMW. The BMW coupe came first with a 296 horsepower V-12. Three years later in 1994, the 8-series came out with a 4.0L V-8 engine producing 282 horsepower. A limited-edition model, the 850CSi, was also offered with a 372 horsepower V-12 engine.

The sporty coupe was available in either automatic or manual. The car has fantastic styling, strong acceleration, dynamic handling, and, due to the limited numbers produced, has quickly reached collector status.

2019 BMW 8 Series
After a two-decade-long hiatus, BMW relaunches their iconic 8 Series line. Back at the height of the 8 Series models in the 1990's, the line was regarded as one of the most daring and revolutionary of its time. Today, the all-new revised 8 Series aims to make an equal impact on the world of luxury automobiles while also showing the world the very best that the renowned brand has to offer. Equipped with standard BMW touches like LED headlights with LaserLight technology, a Harman Kardon or Bowers and Wilkins sound system, M suspension with roll stabilization and an innovative 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the 8 Series has unquestionably been improved from the familiar models of the 90s. In addition to these key upgrades, the revamped 8 Series standard model has a beefed-up engine that yields around 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. This 4.4-liter Biturbo V8 engine is controlled with an 8-speed automatic transmission and can reach a maximum speed of 155 MPH. The 0 to 60 acceleration speed is evenly grand at 3.6 seconds. Despite these changes, the BMW 8 Series line still focuses on high-performance and luxury as noted in the original series. Meanwhile, the exterior is comparable to that of the more recent 6 Series coupe, although it is larger and boasts a vaulted style to enhance the amount of space available inside. Another notable difference between the new 8 Series and recent models is the inclusion of an M series version of the new and improved line.
