Debuting at the Monterey Historic Races in August of 2000, the Saleen S7 for sale emerged as America’s first production supercar. With the S7, the Saleen company created its first fully in-house supercar thanks to its carbon fiber bodywork, bored out 550 hp Ford 427 small-block power plant, and steel-aluminum space frame-derived chassis. Focused on luxury and functionality, the S7 features a leather and aluminum-trimmed cabin for its passengers. With an asymmetrical layout, the cabin pushes the driver closer to the center of the car to help balance its weight for performance and handling purposes.

The shape of the S7’s exterior was formed with extreme top speed in mind. At 160 mph, the carbon fiber body creates the supercar’s 2,750 lb curb weight in downforce, which allows stability to be maintained up to the car’s top speed of 220 mph.

In 2005, an updated version of the S7 was revealed with a twin-turbocharged engine. With horsepower increased to 750 hp, the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo for sale reaches a top speed of 248 mph and sprints from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, rather than the first generation’s 3.3 second 0-60 mph time. In the new iteration, the front and rear diffusers and rear spoiler were reworked to increase downforce by 60 percent. Unlike other supercars on the market, the Saleen S7, and Saleen S7 Twin Turbo were only available during the 2000-2009 production run with a six-speed manual transmission rather than an automatic or F-1 style gear box.

In spite of being a new member of the supercar club, the Saleen S7 price exceeded the performance of its exotic competitors and proved itself worthy of recognition through competition during the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Le Mans.
