From 1966 to 1996, the Ford Bronco compact SUV broke all of the rules. Until the newly redesigned and highly anticipated 2020, Bronco is released next year, check out these Ford Broncos for sale. In the 23 years since the last new Ford Bronco for sale was manufactured, collectors and enthusiasts have continued to keep the rugged legacy of the Bronco alive through uniquely restomod Bronco that put some of today’s supercars to shame.

The comparatively short wheelbase and simple, durable construction of the standard four-wheel drive powertrain in all used Ford Bronco means that this highly collectible workhorse of a truck has aged well. Restored Bronco takes many shapes—from the common three-door wagon to the two-door pickup to lift-off hardtop and open-top roadster variations. The Coyote Bronco for sale is a favorite update with 5.0L V8 engines powering some of these custom Ford Bronco for sale. These restomod Bronco offer fresh takes on modern performance using updated technology and rugged luxury. Frame-off restoration and new engines are commonplace refurbishing techniques for the used Ford Bronco.

Since the Ford Bronco is not currently in production, the best place to buy a used Ford Bronco is via an original owner, through a classic dealer or any of several specialized Bronco restoration experts.

Original Ford Bronco was designed on a Bronco-specific chassis before Ford began producing them on Ford Ranger or F-100 and F-150 truck chassis so that they could streamline Bronco production. This sturdy foundation meant that Bronco still rivals contemporary 4x4 SUVs on the market. Until 1973, Ford Bronco sported a three-speed, column shifted manual transmission and floor-mounted transfer case shifter. After that, it was available with an optional three-speed transmission, later four-and-five speed transmissions as well.

The ICON Bronco for sale is a stunning used Bronco restored and put on the market in 2016. The tastefully restored 1969 Ford Bronco houses a Ford Coyote V8 Engine taken off of a Mustang GT and relies on a 5-speed manual gearbox with an Atlas II 4x4 transfer case for unparalleled off-roading capability. A glossy green finish with stainless steel accents and aftermarket off-roading tires contrast with the Bronco’s vintage good looks.

The Bronco was replaced in Ford’s lineup by the more on-road and family-friendly Ford Expedition and Ford Explorers to better compete with other SUVs on the market in 1996. In 2020, the new Bronco will be available in two-door and four-door models with a sleek, modern exterior and more plush interior finishes.
