The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M for sale is one of only 499 cars designed and built to celebrate Ferrari’s 16th Formula 1 Constructor’s World Championship win in 2008. The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16 is a sleek open-top, track-ready Italian supercar that enhances the best components of the F430 Scuderia to achieve ridiculous speed. Since the 2009 F430 Scuderia Spider 16M was only built and pre-sold to select clients as part of this limited production run, they are fairly hard to find.

The 16M Scuderia Spider convertible leverages a newly revised natural intake and exhaust for a higher compression 4.3-liter V-8 engine that provides 503 horsepower and an impressive 347 lb-ft of torque. To complete the track-optimized feature list, the F430 Scuderia 16M for sale includes an F1-Superfast2 semi-automated manual transmission capable of rapid shifts, a race-tuned suspension and massive carbon-ceramic disc brakes for increased stopping ability. The F430 Scuderia Spider rests upon a stiffer chassis than the F430 Scuderia to better handle all of the additional power.

The Ferrari 16M for sale employs several aluminum and carbon fiber weight-saving elements. The no-frills cabin interior, for example, has an industrial minimalist look. There is no carpet—just diamond plate aluminum welded to the body and carbon fiber panels inside the doors. Simple, pared-down racing seats are made of light-weight fabric stretched over carbon fiber frames.

There is a luxurious exception to this spartan interior, however—a well-equipped six-speaker sound system to drown out the loud high-pitched scream of the engine. Casual drivers can adjust the stability control, shift speeds and relax shock absorbers with the push of a button in the center console for regular street use. “Race” programs and two other extreme settings are available to push the Scuderia Spider to its limit when it’s on the track.

Ferrari also developed specially lightened bumpers and unique five-spoke wheels to further reduce the weight. The result, Ferrari claims, is the fastest track-ready convertible of its time. The Ferrari Scuderia 16M goes from 0-60mph in an impressive 3.7 seconds and reaches top speeds of 196 mph.

The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M was available with a distinctive 16M commemorative stripe down the centerline. Of the 499 Scuderia Spider 16M that were built, just 120 were supposedly slated for the US market. Consequently, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a highly collectible piece of Ferrari history that is also fun to drive.
